A popular heirloom variety, named for the distinctive lobed shape of its leaves, the oakleaf has a striking rich red colour and sweet flavour. Densely bunched, the flounced lettuce leaves add body and colour to salads and their sweetness works well alongside more bitter ingredients such as fennel and chicory.
